How our appointments work.

Is an online consultation right for me?

An online consultation can either help solve the problem, advise you as to the urgency of your situation, give home care advice or even remotely prescribe antibiotics ready for you within minutes at your local pharmacy.

What happens at the consultation?

Using our world-leading, encrypted video technology you will describe your dental problem to our online dentist who can examine you by looking and listening to your symptoms on the screen.

How do I book a consultation?

Simply phone our video team on 02382 355 553 Once they have booked a time slot for you, you will receive a secure link through which to complete a medical history and an email with a link to click on which will take you to The 247 Dentist’s online waiting room.

Once you have booked a video consultation, you will receive the following:

  • A secure link to complete a medical history form (this is very important for the dentist to give you appropriate advice and care).
  • An email containing confirmation of your video consultation time and a link to take you directly to The 247 Dentist’s virtual waiting room. Your dentist will then let you into the consultation at the appropriate time.

Once you have booked a video consultation, you will receive the following:

  • An email containing confirmation of your video consultation time and a link to take you directly to The 247 Dentist virtual waiting room. Your dentist will then let you into the consultation at the appropriate time.

Your video consultation is scheduled to last 20 minutes. To ensure that you get the most out of your consultation, please ensure that you log into the waiting room at least 10 minutes early. This will allow you to hopefully address any issues should you have technology troubles.

 

Please note that should you have a number of issues to discuss with the dentist you may need to book more than 1 consultation.

The cost for a video consultation is £85. This includes the cost of issuing a prescription should this be required (please note that you will still need to pay the pharmacy for the medication on collection).

The video dentist works on a mobile phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. There is no need to download any additional apps or software.

 

The dentist will need to be able to see you clearly so please ensure that you have a good internet connection and are sitting in a well-lit area with little background noise. To help the dentist see inside your mouth, it can be helpful to have 2 spoons to retract your cheeks and lips and even the help of a friend to hold your mobile phone.

 

You will need access to the email address and mobile phone that you provided when you booked your appointment, so that the dentist can contact you if there are any technical problems with your video link.

If you experience any of the following problems with your online consultation, please email videodentist@the247dentist.com:

  • You don’t receive the email with the secure link for completing your medical history
  • You don’t receive a link to take you to your video consultation
  • You are having technical issues which are preventing you have your video consultation

Please remember, our dentists will use the phone number you provided if they are unable to reach you via the video chat link within the booking email. The phone number will appear as ‘No caller ID’.

Our dentists are all experienced dentists with years of experience of managing dental emergencies. You will be in good hands.
